Atlanta Stakes launch cable TV show (New cable show aims at teens, young kids)
The seven metro-Atlanta area stakes are launching a new weekly cable
TV show called "Spiritual Living." The show will focus on young
children and on teens, and emphasize Christ's role in their lives. It
will also discuss ways parents can teach children about prayer and
faith.
According to the program's producer, Mike Rich of Acworth, Georgia, "
'Spiritual Living' is not a typical TV ministry. It doesn't focus on
sermons. This talk show is to let regular Latter-day Saints, from
Gladys Knight and Dale Murphy to ordinary neighbors from all over
Georgia, share ways they've found to successfully teach basic
Christian principles. In a nutshell, we don't want parents to lecture
and kids to yawn. There are more creative, natural ways to teach in
the home that can be part of everyday life."
The show is produced by an all-volunteer staff that includes Church
members with relevant experience who have worked for CNN, NBC and
PBS. Rich is a former TV news anchor and a marketing professor.
Volunteer Jesse Andersen, who has been involved in the project from
its beginning, says that the program is meant for the general public,
"'Spiritual Living' is a program for people of all faiths, as the
program is all about supporting families."
The show debuted September 16th, and can be seen on various channels
depending on the viewer's cable provider. Producers plan segments
featuring Atlanta-born singer Gladys Knight and former Atlanta Braves
star Dale Murphy.
