Sept. 6-12 declared Alice Merrill Horne Week
FILLMORE, UTAH - On March 9, 1899, LDS Church member Alice Merrill
Horne successfully argued before the Utah State House of
Representatives for the creation of art collections at 35 schools
across the state. This legislation soon led to the creation of the
Utah Arts Council, the first state art agency in the United States.
