Mormon-news is an e-mail list that sends out news items about Mormons and Mormonism. This includes news about Mormon culture, activities, events and people worldwide.

The list carries summaries of news items, headlines, press releases and personal reports sent to the list by subscribers. These news items are sent to the list in four ways:

I. Summaries
Three to five messages each day, each message containing a summary of an important news article. Every message includes a reference to the original article (usually including a URL) and a two or three paragraph summary of its content.

II. Press Releases
The full text of press releases sent by the LDS Church, BYU, Mormon businesses and other organizations related to Mormonism are sent to the list soon after they are received. While not all press releases are sent to the list, all those that are about  Mormonism are.

III. Headlines
Lists of references, often including web linkss, to articles that appeared in the press during a particular week on a particular subject. Subjects include news about General Authorities, Mission news, LDS Church Finance and Legal news, Mormon Arts & Entertainment news, Mormon Sports news, etc.

These lists make Mormon-news more complete - giving our readers at least the titles of articles about Mormonism that we couldn't summarize or that the reader might have missed.

IV. Upcoming Events
Mormon-news also publishes a list of upcoming Mormon events each week.

For copyright reasons, Mormon-news can not carry the full text of copyrighted articles. For both volume and resource reasons, we also can't summarize every article.

Helping Mormon-news

Notices of news items, upcoming events, summaries of news items and personal reports of newsworthy events can be sent in by anyone, just by sending an email message to Mormon-news

If you would like to help Mormon-news, please read our Volunteer information sheet. Volunteers can spend just a few minutes a week and help Mormon-news become more complete and improve its summaries.

You do not have to be a subscriber to send in news items. However, if you are not a subscriber, you will not see the information you sent in, and you will miss knowing about the fifty or more news items that occur each week.

To subscribe to Mormon-news, simply send the message "subscribe mormon-news" (no subject necessary) to, or use the button below.

Mormon-news is not sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and nothing that the listowner or anyone submitting to Mormon-news says should be construed as the policy or doctrine of the Church (except those items marked as Church press releases).
