Dutcher to Film Joseph Smith Movie in Palmyra
LDS filmmaker Richard Dutcher's planned film on the life of Joseph Smith will be filmed on location in Palmyra, says a news report on Rochester's WHEC TV10. Dutcher announced last week that his upcoming film project would be a biography of Joseph Smith with a budget of $10 million, significantly larger than the budgets of his previous films.

Unique LDS Architecture Exhibited at BYU
"Mormon Moderne: New Directions in Latter-day Saint Architecture, 1890-1955" is the current exhibit of the Brigham Young University Museum of Art. It will run through the Spring of 2002 and showcases architectural features such as windows, woodwork and stonework, along with photographs and drawings that present the multiple architectural styles incorporated in LDS church buildings of the first half of the 20th century.

Bestsellers: Sci-Fi List Shows Card's Influence
Mormon News added this week the Booksense bestsellers list to its compilation of Mormon titles national lists, and found the influence that LDS author Orson Scott Card has among science fiction readers. Booksense's most recent monthly Science Fiction and Fantasy Specialty Bestsellers List of the top 25 titles includes 5 of Card's titles, the highest at number three. The titles on the Booksense list by Card are "Ender's Shadow" (#3), "Ender's Game (#4), Speaker for the Dead (#11), Shadow of the Hegemon (#17) and Xenocide (#23).

New Products: New Books By Richard Paul Evans, Elder Holland
Prolific Mormon author Richard Paul Evans has a new book, aimed at children and published by his LDS distribution company, Evans Book, which tries to teach children about the sacred nature of their bodies. That book makes an interesting parallel to Elder Jeffrey R. Holland's new book, based on a talk he gave at BYU on intimacy. In addition, history fans have a new paperback edition of Conway Sonne's classic "Saints on the Seas," while a University of Illinois Press book by BYU Professor Eric Eliason has edited a compilation of classic scholarly essays on Mormonism.

Teaching Gospel Principles Through Life's Experiences
Throughout his life, President James E. Faust, a counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saings, says he has been blessed "with countless experiences that, on reflection, have helped me to better understand the Lord's plan for His children, as well as my need to live a life that is in complete harmony with His teachings."
