Tax Break to ZCMI yields Lawsuit (Developer Claims Orem Misused Taxes)

Although the recent rumor of the sale of the church-owned ZCMI department store chain may get you wondering if ZCMI will be around much longer, the city of Orem, Utah is counting on them being there for a good long time. The city has invested over $2 million in city tax dollars to refurbish the store that helps anchor the University Mall as an incentive to keep it from moving to a new mall in neighboring Provo. Even more money has been promised for the future.
