After being convicted in a long public trial for the torture-killing
of 3-year-old Rebecca Bluff, the victim's mother Ferosa Bluff and her
accomplice Andrew Fedorowicz, were sentenced to three prison terms
each for the crime. Judge J. Dennis Frederick gave each defendant two
1-to-15 year prison terms and a 5-years-to-life term to be served
consecutively.
The sentences wrap-up the bizarre case in which the two Canadians,
who met as LDS Church members in Canada, reportedly used sexual
torture devices on the child. When the child died, they claimed that
she fell down a flight of stairs in their Salt Lake City apartment.
Both these articles make an issue of how the defendants acted during
the sentencing - smiling affectionately at each other and apparently
oblivious to the seriousness of their sentences. Also mentioned is
the bizarre cult-like relationship between Bluff and Fedorowicz, who,
even while a member of the church in Canada, taught non-LDS doctrines
and seemed to be seeking followers.
