NAIROBI, KENYA -- A commission on Devil Worship has named the
Theosophical Society of Kenya, the LDS Church and the Freemasons as
"gateways to devil worship," much to the surprise of these
organizations. All three organizations issued statements denying and
complaining about the charges.
Kenya Nairobi Mission President Kirk Waldron said he regrets that
anyone would have such a 'malicious idea' about the LDS Church.
"Would we use the name of Jesus Christ in our name if we were devil
worshippers?" he asked. The commission report alleges that Mormon
temple rituals are masonic in origin, using the masonic square and
compass symbols, which the commision feels are a gateway to devil
worship.
Shocked at the report, President Waldron said that the commission
should have been more careful about their words before passing
judgement on the Church, "We cannot accept judgmental and pernicious
lies about our church!" he said."We are not a sect or a cult. We are
the world's fastest growing religion."
