ACLU Intensifies Effort to Open Main Street Block to Protest
The ACLU is increasing its efforts to open the LDS Church's pedestrian
plaza, currently under construction, to free speech, including the public's
right to protest, speak or act in ways that offend the LDS Church.
Cook's Image-Repair Work Turns Weird With Roast
Church member and Utah Congressman, Merrill Cook, has attempted to
rehabilitate his battered image and to get an early start on his 2000
re-election campaign by orchestrating a "roast" of himself at a fund-raising
dinner held a week ago last Saturday night.
