A thousand mostly die-hard Osmond fans thronged this week to the Bookends
Bookstore in Ridgewood, New Jersey where Donny Osmond kicked off a national
tour to promote his new book, "Life Is Just What You Make It: My Story So
Far."
Nearly all those standing in line for hours were women, former teenyboppers
who are now wives, mothers, executives. Waiting for Osmond to sign copies
of his book, they turned into teenagers again.
The polite tone in Osmond's book has drawn criticism by some who expected
an autobiography that would reveal a visit to a brothel or a secret battle
with drugs.
"Some reporters say I wasn't scathing or revealing enough," Osmond said.
"But that's not the book I set out to write. It's easy to point fingers at
other people. In this book, I mostly point a finger at myself."
