PROVO, UTAH (AP) -- BYU is reviewing the status of sophomore running back
Junior Mahe in the wake of possible Honor Code violations. University
spokesperson Carri Jenkins told reporters Tuesday that "there is review
taking place right now, but no decision has been reached."
The violation was not disclosed and Mahe and his family could not be
reached for comment. The Honor Code prohibits a variety of immoral
activities, many of which, like cheating on tests, are similar to what is
prohibited at other Universities. In addition, the Code prohibits
premarital sex, alcohol, tobacco and ilicit drugs.
Mahe rushed for 425 yards on 87 carries last season as a freshman. He
scored seven touchdowns for the Cougars.
A number of BYU athletes have run into Honor Code violations in recent
years, including the highly publicized suspension of cornerback Heshi
Robertson and the expulsion (later changed to withdrawl) of runningback
Ronney Jenkins.
