Nauvoo business owners met recently with Nauvoo Restoration, Inc., the Mormon organization seeking to restore Nauvoo, and with LDS Church architect Bob Dewey. In the meeting, Dewey reportedly told the businessmen that construction on the new Nauvoo Temple could start as early as next year.

Dewey is said to have told the group that bid invitations for the construction may be sent out as early as February 2000, and work would begin sometime in the spring. The design work on the building is currently being prepared by the St. Louis firm Lew Chiadini Associates Architects and by Harry Weiss and Associates.

Dewey also indicated that a portion of the building may be open to the public with displays and other historical information.
