New stake for Soweto (New Stake Presidencies)

New stake for Soweto (New Stake Presidencies)

Red letter day for South Africa and a sign of the Church's growth in areas where Africans (blacks) predominate: Today's Church News announced the creation of a new stake in Soweto, South Africa. It consists of wards in Florida, Kagiso, Protea Glen and Soweto, and branches in Carletonville, Jouberton, Khutsong and Klerksdorp. Soweto itself was previously a branch in the Roodepoort Stake, so obviously has grown, given that it's now a ward.

Here's the stake presidency and their wives:

Robert Eppel, 53, director of temporal affairs for Church Area office; wife Pamela Anne Greenhalgh Eppel. Counselors: T. Jackson Mkhabele, 38, lecturer; wife, Dorah Mjujwa Mkhabele. Khumbulani D. Mdletshe, 34, regional coordinator for Church Educational System; wife, Cynthia Ntombiruthi Mdletshe

Quick, everybody -- can you say "President Mdletshe" or "President Mkhabele"?

A paradox is not a conflict within reality. It is a conflict between reality and your feeling of what reality should be like. - Richard Feynman
