6.0 temblor topples buildings in the heartland

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH - The LDS Church indicated yesterday that all LDS Church missionaries serving in Columbia are safe, in spite of a 6.0 quake that hit Armenia, Columbia on Monday killing at least 1,000. Missionaries in the Cali Columbia Mission have a week's supply of food and water.

However, one member of the LDS Church, a mother of two children, was killed in the quake. An LDS chapel was also damaged.

To help 300 members left homeless as a result of the quake, three other LDS meeting houses are being used as shelters. The Mission is also sending food, clothing and other essentials to needy church members and others.
