A way to filter out naughty words
Christian Science Monitor 22Jan99
By John Christian Hoyle: Staff writer of The Christian Science Monitor
When Rick Brey, an inventor from Arkansas, got tired of hearing bad
language on TV, he developed a device called TVGuardian: The Foul Language
Filter. A lot of his customers are Mormon.
This little black box works by scanning the closed captions embedded in TV
signals. TVGuardian searches for offensive words and when one is found,
the volume is quickly affected. TVG also features captioned word
substitutes and offers two settings, tolerant and strict.
The unit sells for around $150. Call 888-799-4TVG or visit tvguardian.com
for more information.
