Millennium Jitters Not Just for Mormons
Salt Lake Tribune 9Jan99

Food storage providers have seen a recent upswing in business as people worried about Y2K problems begin to stock up on food and supplies. Previously catering largely to Mormons who routinely stock such items as a part of general preparedness measures recommended by the Church, these companies are now receiving inquiries from others worried about what the new millenium will bring.
Up to 1 in 4 persons surveyed indicated that they are stockpiling some food and goods because of nervousness about Y2K, and these companies' services are made to order for that.
Preparedness Resources, which has been in the business for 56 years, had eight employees a year ago, office manager Roslyn Niebuhr reports.. Now the company has 60 employees and is hiring at least two more each week.
