Sports: Christensen Still Going Strong

NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- Dodgers center fielder McKay Christensen had another strong week last week, getting 6 hits in 17 at bats (.353) -- not quite the performance in two games the previous week, but still a strong performance and an argument for keeping him on the team. Meanwhile, starting pitchers Roy Halladay and Jason Johnson had good outings last week, but ended up with no decisions after their teams lost. And senior pro Bruce Summerhays tied for 6th place in the State Farm Senior Classic, his third top-ten finish of the year.

While Christensen is playing well, the Giant's Jeff Kent is still playing off his game, even for this year. Kent hit .240 last week, but hit one home run and earned 6 RBIs in 25 at bats. Among pitchers, starters Halladay and Johnson had strong weeks, with Halladay turning in an exceptional 1.50 ERA for six innings of work against the Red Sox, and Johnson a 2.57 ERA in seven innings, but neither pitcher managed to get a decision. Relief pitcher Mike Fetters had the best pitching performance of the week, blanking opponents in two innings over two separate games.

Meanwhile, in basketball, both Mormon players seemed off last week, with Kristen Rasmussen scoring just 2 ppg instead of the 3 that she had managed earlier in the season while Natalie Williams was closer to her average, scoring 13.3 ppg vs. 13.5 so far this season. The Carolina Courage's Maren Hendershot remains on the bench, managing again just one minute in last week's game.

On the PGA tour, Keith Clearwater, Dan Forsman and Mike Reid all entered the John Deere Classic, but only Forsman made the cut, tieing for 52nd.
