LDS Girls Win Karate Awards

SPRING LAKE, NEW JERSEY -- Two LDS girls, Neely Tompkins, 15, and her 8-year-old sister, Brinley, won medals in their age groups at the AAU National Karate Championships, held during the last week of June in New Orleans, Louisiana. Neely won two gold medals in her age group in kumite (free fighting) and kata (forms). Brinley won bronze medals in the same events for her age groups. Both girls suffer from physical disabilities, Brinley has a digestive disorder while Neely has arthritis and fibromyalgia.
