  Steve Young Retires
NFL star and LDS Church member Steve Young will reportedly announce today that he is retiring from football. The news leaked to several news organizations on Thursday, and San Francisco 49ers general manager Bill Walsh confirmed the decision on Thursday. Young i the top-rated passer in NFL history and a two-time league MVP.

  New MWC Schedule Has BYU Playing Mondays
The league voted and now BYU will play basketball on Monday nights. Breaking a long-standing aversion, the university will participate in the Mountain West Conference's schedule, which will shift next season from a mainly Thursday-Saturday format to a Saturday-Monday format. The Conference announced the change Tuesday, saying that the change was meant to accommodate ESPN's nationally televised Big Monday late game and address problems with the schedule that many coaches called unfair.

  Father's Confidence Helps Stephenson Make Majors
When LDS Church member Garrett Stephenson was 16, his father went shopping for a new high school for his son, looking for one with a good baseball coach. Landing in the office of Fred Krieger of Boonsboro High School near Hagerstown, Maryland, Rich Stephenson tried to find out if Boonsboro could help his son make the major leagues. "This boy is going to pitch in the major leagues some day," he told Krieger.

  BYU FB Player Will Miss Season
BYU football player Jernaro Gilford has been accused of stealing athletic clothing and equipment from the school and will sit out next season as a result. The school resolved the honor code violation by allowing Gilford to continue as a

  Two Wyoming Basketball All-Stars Plan Missions
Two LDS High School Students on the Wyoming 2000 Basketball All-Stars plan to serve LDS missions. Ryan Taylor of Star Valley High School and P.J. Shumway of Laramie High School were both named to the alll-Wyoming boy's team.

  Following LDS Mission, Summerhays Returns to Golf
LDS Golfer Boyd Summerhays is back, following a two-year LDS mission. Summerhays competed in his first tournament following his return, the Hill Air Force Base Amateur tournament.
