BYU prof bleaches his hair after class raises $18,000 for charity

BYU professor Brett Latimer is sporting a new look these days... at least until his hair grows back in. Brother Latimer teaches American Heritage. For the past seven years, professors in the course have challenged students to donate time or money to the "Sub for Santa" program. Each year, one professor motivates the students by offering to carry out an unusual stunt if the classes hit a predetermined goal.

This year the goal was $16,500. The bet was that Latimer would bleach his hair if the students came up with the cash. Well... they raised over $18 thousand dollars. As Latimer took off a big brimmed hat for his unveiling, he said, "I'm not sure what looks more stupid, the hat, or what's underneath it."

He actually came off easy though... past years have seen one professor dance in a pink tutu... another shave his head and kiss a pig. Money raised by this year's students will help 45 families this Christmas season. Any balance will go to an international relief fund.
