Utah Panel Looks at Ethics of Circumcision

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- A panel at Utah Valley State College on October 5th looked at the ethics of circumcision, questioning its usefulness and calling the practice an ingrained "social ritual" rather than a necessary medical procedure. An article on the panel in the Deseret News observed that "Most Christian faiths, including The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, have no formal position on the procedure. In fact, the Book of Mormon specifically states that the law of circumcision 'is done away' in Christ."

Is circumcision outdated ritual?
