General Relief Society Meeting September 29th

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' General Relief Society Meeting will be held on Saturday, September 29th, 2001 at 6:00 p.m. MDT (-0600 GMT) in the Church's Conference Center Auditorium. Based on a theme of "Be Steadfast and Immovable" (Mosiah 5:15), the meeting will feature addresses by the General Relief Society Presidency and a member of the First Presidency.

The General Relief Society Meeting is held annually, one week before the Church's semi-annual General Conference. This year's meeting will feature music by a choir of women from the Brighton Stakes. The current General Relief Society Presidency includes president Mary Ellen W. Smoot, first counselor Virginia U. Jensen, and second counselor Sheri L. Dew. Admission to the conference center requires tickets, and is limited to women aged 18 and older.

As in the past, the meeting will be broadcast live to 3,000 LDS stake centers in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. It will also be broadcast live over BYUTV (DishNetwork channel 9403 and DirecTV channel 374). An audio version will be broadcast on LDSRadio (DishNetwork channel 990). The meeting will also be broadcast live over the Internet, avaliable on the LDS Church's Broadcast Information page (see http://www.lds.org/broadcast/grsm/0,6220,285,FF.html ).

The Church notes that the meeting will not be available on the Galaxy 11 satellite.

The meeting will also be broadcast on tape delay two hours after the start of the meeting, at 8:00 p.m. MDT (-0600 GMT)

On the Internet, the meeting will be available in 12 languages: English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Tongan, Samoan, Laotian, Cambodian, Hmong, Vietnamese, Korean, Haitian, and Navajo.
