Genesis Group Presents 'I Am Jane'
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- The Genesis Group, an official arm of the LDS
Church created to support its members of African descent, will
perform the award-winning play "I Am Jane," about Black Mormon
pioneer Jane Elizabeth Manning James.
The play, which tells Jane's story in her own words (as often as
possible) and includes a number of traditional "Negro Spirituals"
will be presented in celebration of the group's thirtieth
anniversary. _I Am Jane_ won the Association for Mormon Letters Award
for Best Drama in the year 2000.
Three performances are scheduled, all at the Union Fort Stake Center:
540 East 7200 S. Performances will be Thursday Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
and Friday Oct. 5 at 4:00 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. Admission is
free, and all are invited.
