MSI: Subscriber Adds Oil States to MSI

NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- While the MSI managed a small loss for the week, Mormon News subscriber Jonathan Felt pointed out that Oil States International should be included in the index because its chairman, L.E. Simmons is Mormon. In spite of adding Oil States to the index, the MSI fell 0.86 (0.7%) for the week, less than the NASDAQ, but not as good as the Dow Jones and New York Stock Exchange, both of which eeked out small gains.

The drop in the index was fairly broad, including 19 of the MSI's now 33 stocks, but the drops in some compaies were quite sharp. 1-800-Contacts continued its recent decline, falling 16% last week. Corvis, Iomega, Myriad Genetics, Oil States and Oakley all fell by more than 10%.

But the index was proped up, almost single-handedly by Cadence Design, which rose 16% for the week.
