LDS Missionary Hit by Car in Utah

WEST JORDAN -- An unidentified LDS missionary was hit by a car while riding a bicycle Monday night and is in critical condition at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. The Elder has multiple injuries, including a severe head injury. He is listed in critical condition.

The missionary, who is from outside Utah, and his companion were traveling on a poorly-lit section of Old Bingham Highway just after 10:30 pm Monday when a teenage driver struck the Elder while turning left. The Elder was later airlifted to LDS Hospital. His companion was not injured.

Police do not believe that alcohol was a factor in the accident, but they are continuing their investigation and may file charges against the driver later.
