LDS Conference Center Contractors Win Award

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- Legacy Constructors has won a 2001 Aon Build America Merit Award for the company's work on the Conference Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Three of Utah's largest general contractors - Okland, Jacobsen, and Layton joined together under the name Legacy Constructors for the project.

Seventy-nine projects were nominated for awards. Awards are considered for new construction and renovation in the categories of: Building construction; Heavy/Industrial construction; Highway construction; Municipal/Utilities construction; Design-build; and Construction Management. Small and large projects are considered equally. It is the uniqueness of the projects that determines Build America winners.

The criteria for the award include: state-of-the-art advancement, excellence in project management, innovation in construction techniques or materials, excellence in client service, contribution to the community, meeting the challenge of a difficult job, and sensitivity to the environment and surroundings.
