Gladys Knight wins $125,000 for charity on 'Millionaire'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- Gladys Knight did make it to the 'hot seat' on ABC-TV's 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' tonight and made it to the 125,000 level before bowing out.

She was all smiles as she answered question after question, not using a lifeline until after she hit the $32,000 level. She used the last two on the #125,000 question, which was about the dish used to serve a traditional Japanese 'bento' meal. She walked after the next question was asked, which was:

Which of these singers never wrote a #1 Billboard hit? (in other words, never wrote a song that went to #1 in Billboard Magazine's Hot 100 Chart).

A: Sting
B: Bruce Springsteen
C: Elton John
D: Stevie Wonder

After announcing she would walk, she was asked what her answer might have been. She said 'Bruce Springsteen', and was right.

I did not hear what charity she played for.

Oddly enough, another question came up tonight when Amy Grant was on, that asked about the Partridge Family, and another LDS singing group, the Osmonds, was one of the wrong answers on that one.
