  Teen Arrested for Shooting in LDS Chapel
A 16-year-old Idaho boy was arrested Friday after he fired shots at his stepfather. The incident took place at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints center located outside of Blackfoot, Idaho.

  Forum Speaker Defends Family
A man who is rallying people to defend the traditional family spoke of the importance of this mission at the monthly Major Forum at Ricks College.  Richard Wilkins, a law professor at Brigham Young University, is one of the organizers of last year's Second World Congress of Families in Geneva, Switzerland.

  BYU business professor's research says collaboration is key to competitive advantage
Despite the harsh light shed on relationships between companies and their suppliers by the ongoing troubles between Ford Motor Co. and Bridgestone/Firestone Inc., research presented in a new book by a Brigham Young University professor concludes that collaboration actually gives companies a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

  BYU's Newsnet named best online student newspaper
Brigham Young University's NewsNet--an integrated news service that includes online news from The Daily Universe, KBYU-TV, KBYU-Radio and CCN-Cable News--is the recipient of the "Best All-Around Online Student Newspaper" award presented by the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ).

  BYU plans 29th annual Sperry Symposium Sept. 29 and 30
Elder Marlin K. Jensen of the Presidency of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will speak at the 29th Annual Sidney B. Sperry Symposium, "Out of Obscurity: The Church in the Twentieth Century."

  Dean of Physical, Mathematical Sciences at Oct. 3 devotional
The dean of the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences will speak at a Brigham Young University devotional in the Marriott Center Tuesday (Oct. 3) at 11 a.m. The address by Earl M. Woolley will be broadcast live on KBYU-TV (Channel 11) and KBYU-FM (89.1). It will be rebroadcast Sunday (Oct. 15) at 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Channel 11 and at 8 p.m. on 89.1 FM.

  Proposed building at Ricks to retain name of Jacob Spori
A proposed building that will replace the historic Jacob Spori Building at Ricks College will retain the name of the college's first administrator.

  Service is a Component of Education
The purpose of Service Week was to embark in service and focused on the words  heart, might, mind and strength," said ASRC officer Kayla Anderson, who spearheaded the event at Ricks College.  A human chain of students strung throughout the library was the highlight of this year's Service Week.  Tom Liau, director of the David O. McKay Library, said it wasn't very quiet in the library on Saturday.
