Voice Male performing next weekend in Provo and Layton
Excel Entertainment Press Release 21Jul00 A4
Vocal Band Scheduled to Bring Down the House
Voice Male's Special Brand of A Cappella Coming to Town

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- In this era of manufactured teen pop, angst rock and hardcore rap, it is refreshing to find a group that simply sings good songs.

In 1994, six friends from Logan got together to do just that. Six years and five albums later, Voice Male is stronger than ever.

Voice Male will be performing on Friday July 28 at Provo HS Auditorium in Provo, and Saturday July 29 at the Ed Kenley Centennial Auditorium in Layton. Tickets are $5 and available at the door. The music starts at 7:30 p.m. For more information check out www.voicemalemusic.com.

While the West does have a thriving a cappella music scene, most groups don't last more than a few short years. Voice Male, on the other hand, has been entertaining audiences around the West longer than Britney Spears has been able to spell her name. The enormously popular award-winning group attributes their longevity to their fans.

"They won't let us go away," says John Luthy, vocal percussionist and the group's business manager. "The fans just keep coming back to our concerts."

"We love to sing," says Mike Bearden, tenor and the man responsible for two-thirds of the arrangements on Hooked. "People can tell that we have fun on stage, and that makes them feel comfortable themselves. I think they come away from our concerts feeling good."

On the program for the concert will be many of the new songs off of Hooked, Voice Male's latest album. Hooked features more of the tight harmonies ("Light In Your Eyes"), fun arrangements ("Walking on Sunshine") and endearing novelty tunes ("Farmer Tan") for which Voice Male has become so noted.

Voice Male concerts have a history of selling out quickly. Fans are encouraged to get there early.
