LDS Church to honor Hyrum Smith's birth

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- The LDS Church will hold a special fireside
on Sunday, February 13th in the Assembly Halll on Temple Square to
honor the 200th anniversary of the birth of Hyrum Smith, the older
brother of LDS Church prophet Joseph Smith, patriarch to the Church,
and member of the Church's first presidency.
The fireside will feature Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of
the Twelve and Elder Eldred G. Smith, emeritus general authority,
formerly patriarch to the Church. Smith is a direct descendant of
Hyrum Smith. In addition, the program will include original music
written by some of Hyrum Smith's descendants.
