SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- An exciting play in BYU's 30-7 victory over San Diego State University last Saturday won the team the Compaq Best Defensive Play of the Week award. The play ended with a BYU touchdown and highlighted BYU's star linebacker Rob Morris.

In the play, Morris burst through San Diego's line and sacked quarterback Jack Hawley, causing Hawley to fumble the ball. Hans Olsen, nephew of NFL star Merlin Olsen, picked up the ball and ran 24-yards to the endzone. In the game, Morris gained the highest defensive stats in BYU history, including 14 unassisted tackles, two fumble recoveries, three quarterback sacks and two fumbles caused.
