It is now fairly widely known that the ground breaking for the Perth Temple will take place on the 20th November, and will be attended by invited guests only.

Yesterday my daughter Rachel (11 years old) received a letter in an envelope with the return address for the Perth Rockingham Stake. I was very curious about what the letter might be about, and eager to find out what it was when she got home from school.

It turns out that enclosed was an invitation for Rachel to attend the ground breaking. Naturally I was excited for her, but the letter extending the invitation was either an example of a poorly thought out form letter, or an indication of a disturbing change in church policy. The letter advised Rachel that she "and your wife" were invited to the ground breaking...
