Mormon America author to do radio interview on San Francisco station

There will be a radio discussion about Mormonism Wednesday morning on San Francisco's KQED-FM, 88.5, from 10 to 11 a.m.

The show is "Forum". The host, Michael Krasny, will be talking with Richard Ostling, journalist and co-author of the recent published "Mormon America: The Power and the Promise." Ostling contributed to last year's cover story on Mormonism for Time Magazine.

Please note that "Forum" is a live, 2-hour show, from 9 to 11 a.m. Each hour has a different topic. The discussion on Mormonism will take place during the SECOND hour of the show, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Listeners can call in to the show at 415-863-2476. Email messages can be sent to forum@kqed.org (but I'm unsure whether email will actually be read during the live broadcast. It might.)

If you don't listen regularly to KQED or public radio, you will find that "Forum" is less contentious than commercial talk radio shows (such as Limbaugh, Liddy, etc.). However, "Forum" does not shy away from controversial issues. My advice to anyone who wants to call in to the show is to be succinct and matter-of-fact. You may have only 15 to 30 seconds to make your initial point, or to ask your question. If you get through, the KQED operator may ask you what your comment or question will be, before letting you go on the air.

(And if anybody can record the show on tape, and loan it to me, I'd appreciate it! I have an appointment with my daughter, so I'm going to miss the broadcast. Thanks!)

Regards, Frank Maxwell
