| Even Sister Missionary Knew Canadian Skaters Won Gold |
| Canadian pairs figure skaters Jamie Sale and
David Pelletier received broad support in North America by those who
believed they had won a gold, but were only given a silver medal.
They were eventually awarded a gold medal for the performance, and
LDS Sister missionary Camilla Whatley even got to weigh in on the
controversy, expressing the dominant feeling: "I was, like: Of course
they got the gold. Of course!" |

| Aussie LDS Olympian 'At Home' at SLC Games |
| Rowena Bright, age 21 and from Cooma
Australia, is one of five athletes from around the world known to be
members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Rowena
competed in the Alpine Combined event which includes of downhill and
slalom last week (she placed 24th) and will compete again this
Wednesday in the Slalom. |

| Edward Sommers, is one of thousands who have
joined together with other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, in volunteering his time to the Salt Lake Winter
Olympic games. Balancing a desire to give service with a commitment
to keep the Sabbath day holy is a dilemma that is not new to
Latter-day Saints. Strict Sabbath observance, especially when it
comes to sports, has always been a concern. |

| At least 14 LDS Church members, including two Area
Authority Seventies, are included in Ridenbaugh Press' list of the
most influential Idahoans. The list of church members includes one of
Idaho's US Senators, a US congressman, Boise Mayor Brent Coles,
BYU-Idaho President and Area Authority Seventy David Bednar and, most
surprisingly, Idaho Area President C. Scott Grow, also an Area
Authority Seventy. |

| Mormon Woman to be a Survivor |
| A Mormon woman will be a contestant on the
upcoming CBS "reality" show "Survivor," Mormon News has learned.
Neleh Dennis, a native of Heber City, Utah, is a 21-year-old
certified nurse assistant working towards a degree in cosmetology who
will try to outwit 15 other contestants stranded on the South Pacific
island of Nuku Hiva in the show, which airs starting February 28th.
Dennis stands out from the other contestants by choosing to bring her
scriptures as her "luxury item." |

Frederick Handel's "The Messiah" just finished a run at Lancaster's
Fulton Opera House just as Slover's most recent work, "Hancock
County" debut's at BYU. But a news story about the play in the
Lancaster News shows how the play's shot at Broadway was killed by a
bad review from a music critic, who saw the play in place of the New
York Times' theater critic. |

| LDS Businessman's Airline, JetBlue, Will Go Public |
| JetBlue, the New York-based airline started in
1999 by LDS Church member David Neeleman, will become a public
company later this year with an initial public offering expected to
raise $125 million. The company, known for its low prices and
high-end amenities, such as free, live television at every seat, has
built an impressive track record, expanding in two years to 100
flights a day serving 18 U.S. cities. And analysts already believe
the public will jump at the chance to invest in the firm. |
