found allies in The Baptists, members of the Community of Christ (formerly
the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), Christian
Scientists and a dozen other Colorado congregations who are backing the
Latter-day Saints in their right to dictate rules for the public access of
the Main Street plaza in downtown Salt Lake City. |

| Weber State Honors David O. McKay |
| David O. McKay, formerly dubbed the patron saint of
Weber State College by LDS President Gordon B. Hinckley, received his
name on the school's education building last week. During the hour
long ceremony in the Austad Auditorium, several speakers elaborated
on McKay's love of education. The building was made possible by a $2
million commitment from the Ashton Family Foundation, The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Foundation and the Stewart
Education Foundation. |

Ruiz started wrestling competition Monday in the Nebraska-Omaha Open
as Nebraska's starter at 197 pounds. But in addition to getting back
into wrestling after two years, Ruiz finds he must also face the
remaining turmoil in the 9th-ranked team after a scandal forced the
resignation of coach Tom Neuman while Ruiz was on his mission and
fans who are looking for a replacement for Brad Vering, the 2000
National Champion at 197 pounds. |

| MSI: MSI Reaches Pre-9/11 Levels |
| It took sudden surges by out-of-favor stocks
AES Corp. and Corvis to move the Mormon Stock Index finally above its
September 11th level. As a result, the index rose 6.1% last week,
more than double many other indices, to close at 109.20. For the week
AES Corp. rose 22% on good news including the expected sale of an
Illinois power utility, while Corvis jumped nearly 70% after positive
comments about the stock were made at a telecommunication industry
conference. Overall, 28 of the 34 stocks in the index rose while just
6 fell. |
