Olsen's New Book for All Ages

CLINTON -- Greg Olsen's inspiring art and Michael and Wendy Nelsen's text have made "I Am a Child of God" a tremendous hit. The first edition (about 25,000) copies sold within two weeks, the second edition is at press, and a third edition is on order.

"I Am a Child of God" is a 32-page children's book published by Covenant Communications designed to build children's self-esteem. The book retails for $17.95. "It is like a children's book for all ages. It really is a great message, particularly at this time in the world," Wendy Nelsen said of the book, it "tells people they are special." Nelsen said the book is also popular because it appeals to more people than just Latter-day Saints.

"This powerful combination of accessible visual images and concise, insightful lessons teaches children that their worth doesn't come from the clothes they wear, the social group they belong to, or the car they drive," Olsen said in a prepared statement. "When they see themselves in their true light as children of God these illusions will melt away."

All three creators will be signing their book at the Layton Hills Mall Deseret Book on Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Nelsens will do another book signing Nov. 3 from noon to 1 p.m. at Seagull Book & Tape in Layton, 448 West Antelope Drive.

"It is amazing," Wendy Nelsen said of the success of the book. "I Am a Child of God" is the second book she and her husband Michael have written together. Their first book was "My CTR Ring."
