   Guadalajara Mexico Temple Dedicated

GUADALAJARA, MEXICO -- President Gordon B. Hinckley of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints dedicated the church's 105th
operating Temple yesterday, sealing the Temple's cornerstone in a
short ceremony and dedicating the building a little later. In the
dedicatory prayer for the Guadalajara Temple, President Hinckley
blessed both the people and the land in which the building is located.
At the cornerstone ceremony, following a prayer from Moctezuma Stake
President Americo Garcia, President Hinckley told those attending
that while the sealing of a cornerstone was once an important part of
constructing a building, it is now largely symbolic. He then put the
mortar in place to seal the stone, and, as has been his custom with
other Temples, invited several children from among those present to
help.
One local church member, Graciela Garcia, reported on the email list
ezine-sud that the dedication was inspiring, filling those attending
with joy. "I can't describe the emotion that filled us as we felt the
Spirit. Our beloved prophet blessed our homes, our country and its
leaders, and asked for good relations with our neighbors, and that we
be respected by them. He blessed our land, and asked that we remain
faithful in spite of trials."
The Guadalajara Temple is the 11th Temple operating in Mexico. A 12th
Temple in the country, in Monterrey, is under construction after its
ground breaking last November.
