Johnson and Tagaloa Play, US teams win

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA -- US Water Polo team member Courtney Johnson and Volleyball player Charlene Tagaloa both played for the first time, and scored as their teams won in today's competition. In Water Polo, the US beat Russia 7-5 with Johnson in the pool, and contributing to the US win. After Russia scored first, Johnson recorded an extra man goal with just 28 seconds left in the first period to tie the game.

Tagaloa was brought in to help the US Volleyball team in the third set of its win in straight sets against Kenya, after the US was already leading the set 6-1. Tagaloa then served for three straight points before Kenya beat off her attacks.

The US softball team continued its performance, blanking Cuba 3-0. LDS player Laura Berg was hitless in two at bats as the team scored its second shut-out of the tournament.
