LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- LDS Church member Jeanne Broberg shared
her thoughts on disciplining children recently in the guest column of
the Los Angeles Times' Glendale community newspaper. Broberg focused
on how parents can discipline with love and by doing so encourage
self discipline in their children.
Broberg suggests that parents avoid idle threats, instead taking the
mental time to determine the consequences of the threat and weather
or not they should carry it out. She also suggests that parents
discipline in private, and use humor as a "soothing salve."
According to the Times, Broberg is the mother of eight children, and
now has 16 grandchildren. She is also serving in her seventh year on
the board of the La Canada Unified School District. She is married to
local obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Charles Broberg.
