Colorado State Linebacker And RM Says Mission Changes You
(Finally, Kay's winding road has ended)
Denver CO Post 2Apr00 S2

FORT COLLINS, COLORADO -- Russell Kay, a boy from Mesa Arizona, went on a mission to Mexico City. Since then he played football at Ricks college and is now starting at Colorado State. The team is looking forward to watching this new Mormon kid play next fall.

Kay says that his mission had a big effect on him, "I lost about 30 pounds. I had diarrhea for two years straight. You just get used to it," he says. Now 6-foot-2, 240 pounds, Kay says a mission changes you. 'You definitely grow up. You learn humility and what you want in life. They call you names, they yell at you. You don't take it personally. They throw bottles at you. I had knives and guns pulled on me frequently. But the people were cool."
