Subscriber Identifies Additional Mormon Athletes

NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- Mormon News subscriber Brent Romney noticed another Mormon athlete in the NBA, and was able to confirm another Mormon player in the XFL. The Milwaukee Bucs' Mark Pope was once recruited by BYU, but instead chose to play at the University of Kentucky. Romney was also able to get a confirmation that the San Francisco Demon's Juan Johnson is Mormon.

In the NBA, Mormon players Shawn Bradley and Scot Pollard continue to perform well, playing more than 20 minutes per game and scoring 5 to 10 points per game. The other Mormons in the NBA aren't performing as well, including Pope, who played only about 10 minutes per game and scored just five points during the week.

In Golf, it was an off week for most of the Mormon golfers. Jay Don Blake played in the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, tieing for 30th place and Senior PGA player Bruce Summerhays played in the Verizon Classic, tieing for 20th place.
