Savickas Finishes Without Making Finals, US Softball Loses Again in Extra Innings

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA -- The US Softball team lost its second straight game in extra innings, to China 2-0 in the 14th inning, putting it firmly behind Japan in the standing. In what must have been an exceptional game, the US only gave up two hits, while China gave up just three. LDS team member Laura Berg, who plays center field, had 0 hits in 6 at bats.

Meanwhile, the two other US teams with Mormon players that played yesterday both won. In Water Polo, Courtney Johnson scored one goal in one attempt as the US beat Kazakhstan 9-6. The US women's Volleyball team also beat Croatia 3-0, although Mormon team member Charlene Tagaloa did not play because of an injured wrist.
