REXBURG, IDAHO -- In addition to speaking to the graduates at Ricks
College, Elder Maxwell was there to hear the world premier
performance of "Apotheosis: A Glorification" performed by the Ricks
College Chamber Orchestra and Collegiate Singers.
Elder Maxwell had a particular interest in the piece as the text is
based on his writings, edited by Joyce E. Davis and put to music by
Gaylen A. Hatten. My son and daughter-in-law play in the orchestra
and had the privilege of hearing from Brother Hatten.
Starting on the Saturday following the Ricks graduation, the Orchesta
and Collegiate Singers left on a two-week tour through the Pacific
Northwest where they performed "Apotheosis" a number of times. On
their return they held several recording sessions. A CD which will
include "Apotheosis" is being produced by Heritage Music and should
be available by fall.
