New LDS New Hampshire Bishop Recognized
(Hollis man, 36, to head Mormon church in Nashua)
Nashua NH Telegraph 10Apr00 D1
By Michelle Hopey: Telegraph Staff

HOLLIS, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- Russel Noel of Hollis, New Hampshire, has recently been appointed as the bishop of the newly formed Nashua First Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. "It's exciting and humbling - it runs gamuts of emotions, Noel said."

With no prior experience as a bishop, Noel felt his new position was "a calling from the Lord." He willingly accepted and made the commitment to serve with honor. The newly organized ward hasn't been as difficult a task as he thought. The new congregation has been very supportive of each other and willing to help.

As a bishop, Noel is responsible for the spiritual and temporal welfare of the more than 100 families in Nashua, Hollis and Brookline. "Helping individuals and families deal with their personal issues and lives has been the most rewarding part," Noel said.

"I know he'll do a good job because he's dedicated to his religion, he gets along well with people and he likes to find solutions instead of dwelling," said Teresa, his wife of 14 years.
