LDS Mrs. America faces custody suit (Mrs. America Named in Custody Suit)

OGDEN, UTAH -- LDS Church member Starla Stanley, who was selected as Mrs. America last month in Hawaii, has been sued for custody of her two children by her ex-husband, Mike Pomeroy. In the lawsuit Pomeroy claims that Stanley 'emotionally abused' the children by fighting with her second husband in front of them.

Stanley does admit being shoved and slapped by her second husband, and to once giving him a bloody nose. She says that the couple is in counseling, and that their problems are due to the difficulties of blending two families following thier 1996 marriage.

Meanwhile, Stanley continues her public appearances as Mrs. America and her preparations for the Mrs. World Pageant next month in Jerusalem.
