Edwards recognized for Innovation (A century of college football: The Innovators)

CBS SportsLine, with sports statistics provider Lindy's Reports put together a list of the 100 most important people in College Football in the past 100 years (see Sportsline). While BYU's LaVell Edwards didn't make the Top 10, he was recognized as one of the innovators in College Football.

Edwards, according to the recognition, innovated by using professional-style plays long before any of his peers. This led Edwards to a long, winning record as a football coach and a 1984 No. 1 rating for the BYU Cougars, who are also recognized as one of the dominant teams of the 1980s.
