Mormon enters horse racing Hall of Fame (Riding High: Baze enters horse racing's Hall of Fame today)

In spite of his relative obscurity, Russell Baze wins races. He has won a lot of races -- 6,666 to be exact -- and his winning gained him a seat in the Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs, NY yesterday, one of 78 jockeys so recognized in the history of horse racing. But Baze doesn't plan to stop winning any time soon. Horse racing allows active jockeys to be inducted after 15 years of competing.

Y. Women's Teams May Be Left Out of Championships

BYU's on-going dispute with the NCAA over Sunday play may come to a head in a month, when the LDS Church's University will learn if its women's soccer and basketball teams will be eligible for postseason tournaments. Under an NCAA ruling last week, both teams will be ineligible to participate in postseason tournaments even if they qualify because of the University's refusal to play on Sunday.

BYU's place in College Football History (Statitudes: Hundred wins war)

Football powerhouses of Florida State, Nebraska, Florida and Tennessee can make a case for being college football's "Team of the Decade" in the '90s. All are trying to reach the rare 100-victory in a decade mark. Barring a complete collapse, the Seminoles, Cornhuskers and Gators all should reach 100 wins before November, and the defending national champion Volunteers can become the fourth team with another 10-win season. Penn State is the only other team with a shot, if the Nittany Lions win all of 13 of their games.
