Local teen gets taste of modeling through contest
Las Vegas Sun 31May99 L5
By Kristen Peterson: Las Vegas Sun

This article focuses on Melissa Lee, a 15-year-old LDS girl from Las Vegas. Melissa recently found out she was one of the eight finalists in the Chanel/Seventeen Magazine New Model of the Year contest. This is quite an honor since the magazine received 20,000 entries. Melissa was interviewed by TV show, Extra, and she was asked whether being a Mormon would affect her in the business. Lee said, "I have limitations." In the interview she made it clear that she would not work Sundays nor would she show her body in ways that make her feel uncomfortable. "If they won't compromise with me then I guess they don't want me that bad," she said.
