German members help refugees (From Around the World)
BONN, Germany -- In a ceremony at the headquarters of the German Red Cross,
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Seventy, president of the Europe West Area,
presented the organization with a $100,000 check to help refugees in
Kosovo. "This is a gift from the German Saints to help those in need,"
said Elder Uchtdorf. The gift also included 5,000 hygiene kits assembled by
German Saints for the refugees.
"This is a tangible gift that can be given. They have a desire to follow
Christ's admonition to help those in need," said Elder Uchtdorf. In
accepting the gift, Johannes Richert, head of the Humanitarian Aid and
Development Department of the German Red Cross, said that the gift will
"put food in hungry mouths and clean water in parched throats, and give
blankets for those who are cold and soap to clean the body and lift the
spirit."
