Psychology professor Sally Barlow at BYU devotional June 8
PROVO, Utah (May 27) -- A professor from the Department of
Psychology at Brigham Young University will speak at a devotional
Tuesday (June 8) at 11 a.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.
The devotional by Sally Barlow will be broadcast live on
KBYU-TV (Channel 11) and KBYU-FM (89.1). It will be rebroadcast
Sunday (June 20) at 6 and 11 a.m. on Channel 11 and at 8 p.m. on
89.1 FM.
Barlow came to BYU after earning a Ph.D. in counseling
psychology from the University of Utah in 1978. She has served
in a number of professional organizations, including chair of the
Utah Psychology Licensing Board, member-at-large for Division 49
of the American Psychology Association, and she is a fellow of
the Academy of Clinical Psychology.
She earned a clinical diplomate from the American Board of
Professional Psychologists, and was one of the first to receive a
group diplomate from the American Board of Group Psychology.
Supported by NIMH as well as other external grants, college
and internal grants, she has studied such topics as natural
helpers versus expert leaders, therapeutic factors in groups and
peacemaking skills in children. She has co-authored a book on
family enrichment, and has published a number of chapters and
articles on groups, women and mental health and Mormons.
