LDS Church Settles Suit With Author, Pays `Nominal Amount'
Salt Lake Tribune 21Mar99
The Associated Press
The suit by author Rodello H. Hunter against the LDS Church was settled last
week with the payment to Hunter of a 'nominal amount.' LDS Church spokesman
Dale Bills did not disclose details of the agreement and Hunter's attorney's
couldn't be reached for comment.
Hunter had sued the LDS Church in 1997. In the suit she claimed that the LDS
Church violated an agreement that allowed the Church to stage a play based
on her book, "A House of Many Rooms." The book is the tale of a large Mormon
family. The agreement allowed the LDS Church to stage plays based on the
book for a period of time. Hunter alleged that the play was performed by
local units of the Church after the agreement had expired.
